I Hate the Interwebs because it has a long memory and doesn't like to be very discreet with your dirty laundry. I'm dead sexy!

In honor of the Vendorprisey post last week about facebook's geographic diversion, I had to post this YouTube video below. It really did have me LOL.

I must admit, I'm really not sold yet on the value of Facebook for the Enterprise, but I do think it was pretty brilliant to open it up as a platform. I have found some personal value in it by linking back up with some old high school friends that I haven't talked to in ages. However, it is a little weird to get invites and random messages from people that I don't really know. That's why I love the chorus to this parody of Facebook and Enrique Iglesias’ song Hero:

I can be your facebook stalker
I can click away the pain
I'll be on your wall forever
You can't take my mouse away

I also really laughed at the poke references which Mr. Otter is so found of. Don't worry Thomas, that term has double meaning in America too.

Do Targeted Ads Really Work?

I often wonder if there are actually people who buy things from the ads that they see on websites, blogs, etc. I really don't think I have ever bought a single product from this type of advertising model. This seems to be the current way to monetize users, so I suppose there is someone out there falling for this stuff, but who?

I saw a somewhat amusing review on Techcrunch about a site called get GetThemLaid.com that allows someone to post profiles of their lonely, nerdy friends in hopes of them getting lucky. However, the funniest thing I saw when I went there was this "targeted ad" that I got from the AdBrite box:

Christian Ringtones just for Christians? Now that's funny. Take this quote from a recent blog post by Sig Rinde to heart:

Target means push is afoot. Push is yesterday, thank you very much.
Targeting means also one thing – you will miss more often than hit…

Dear AdBrite, I think you may have just slightly missed the target on this one. It's probably not likely that I will ever be browsing around, thinking to myself, "hmmm…if by some miracle above, my buddy gets lucky tonight, I better buy an Oh Happy Day ringtone to honor the moment." In my humble opinion, I feel that the traditional ad model bubble will eventually burst. I still believe that where there is traffic, there is potential, but I agree with Sig on this one that the old style, push-model is or will be dead. The focus should now be about getting your critical mass in front of you and letting them pull you up to the tipping point.
